Take a step towards fitness

When it comes to weight loss, the desire to reach a goal is the easy part, staying motivated? That’s a different story. If you find yourself getting discouraged, here’s a few tips to keep you focused on your fitness goals:

  1. Take it one step (or one rep) at a time: Don’t get too far ahead of yourself. Instead, focus on the moment. Set daily goals for what you want to achieve and be encouraged by knowing that each step, and every rep is getting you closer to where you want to be. Relax the muscles you’re not using and if you’re listening to music, try to synchronize yourself to the beat.
  2. Visualize and focus on who you are becoming: Stay motivated by thinking about how you’ll look/feel once you achieve your goal. Whether you are losing weight for a photo shoot, special event or even your birthday, picture yourself where you want to be and use this vision to stay motivated.
  3. Talk to yourself: Yep, the folks around you may stare but sometimes you have to get yourself a pep talk. Instead of saying: “This is hard,” or “these weights are too heavy,” speak positive positive affirmations. Exchange words of defeat with: “I can do this!”
