Losing weight takes a lot of work. However, there are a few strategic things you can do to burn fat while you sleep! Yep, you read that correctly, you can actually lose weight while you rest. Here are a few easy things you can do to get started.

  1. Keep it cool. Now, I know its almost winter time but if you can stand cooler temperatures, try to avoid tuning up the heat and catch some zzz’s in cooler temperatures instead. According to research, colder temperatures subtly enhance the effectiveness of our stores of brown fat—fat keeps you warm by helping you burn through the fat stored in your belly.
  2. Ditch the distractions. Whether you’re up late at night watching Jimmy Fallon or scrolling through your social media feed, staying up too late cuts into much needed sleep time. A recent analysis found that lean people watch less TV and often get a full night’s rest. The less you sleep, the more likely you’ll have hunger cravings during the day which can lead to overeating.
  3. Avoid late night workouts. If you can only workout after work hours, try to get your exercise in as soon as you clock out. If you workout too close to bed time, your body may be too energized to wind down. Instead, try to jump start your metabolism with AM exercise or in the late afternoon/early evening.
