If you want to get the most bang for your buck in the gym, you gotta “HIIT” it. HIIT stands for “High Intensity Interval Training.” HIIT is all about short bursts of high intensity exercises (movements that elevate your heart rate quickly), followed by an extended rest period. An example of a HIIT routine would be 15 second sprints on the treadmill followed by a 45 second recovery (repeating that sequence for about 15-20 minutes). Research has shown that HIIT burns more calories than moderate exercise. In fact, there are some studies that indicate you can burn more calories doing HIIT for 30 minutes than jogging for an hour!
