This month I decided to start training for my first bikini (physique) competition. So far I’ve made some amazing progress and have been pushing my limits when it comes to lifting heaving weights. Unfortunately, along with lifting heavy comes muscle soreness. Yesterday, I was so sore, I was walking with a limp (lol). After stretching and massaging gave me little comfort, I decided to “meditate” the pain away. And guess what?! IT WORKED!

Here’s what I did: I found meditation music on YouTube, I put on my headphones and laid down for the night. As I listened to the music, I repeated affirmations to myself (in my head). I said things like: “I am healed,” “I am strong,” “I am healthy…” I eventually fell asleep and when I woke up this morning, I noticed a significant difference in the way my legs felt. No more tightness, no more pain when walking. Although I don’t feel 100%, I am much more optimistic about getting through my next training session.

I am sharing this story because sometimes we forget about the power of our mind, thoughts and words. From fitness to career and any goal in between, it is important to remind yourself, with thoughts and words that you ARE capable of having the things you want. If you’d like to use the music I listened to last night, I included the YouTube link. You can also use any other music that inspires positive emotion.
