The COVID-19 crisis has affected us in ways that we never thought imagined. We’ve learned what exactly an “essential business” is defined as, but we’ve not had to worry about reduction in public transportation in metro Atlanta with MARTA. That changed today.

According to MARTA, effective Monday, April 20, it is suspending all but 41 bus routes. Rail service on weekdays will begin at 5 am and operate on a Sunday schedule with trains arriving at stations about every 20 minutes.

Other changes include:

  • Red and Gold Line trains will travel to Hartsfield-Jackson Airport until 9 pm. After 9 pm, all Gold Line trains will continue to travel to the airport; Red Line trains will only operate between the North Springs and Lindbergh Center stations.
  • Green Line trains will turn back at the King Memorial station from the start of service until 9 pm.
  • MARTA has closed the Mercedes-Benz/State Farm Arena/GWCC Station. Trains will not stop at that station until events resume.
  • Atlanta Streetcar service will run on the Sunday schedule for both weekday and weekend service.

We will keep you updated with any new changes and developments here at Urban One.
