Need Relationship Advice? Tyrese & Rev Run Announce New Talk Show Set To Air In Early 2016

Earlier this year, rumors began circulating that Tyrese and Rev Run were teaming up for their own talk show. Details were scarce and nothing was confirmed, until now.

Set to air on the Oprah Winfrey Network in early 2016, the yet-untitled eight-episode series will see Tyrese and Rev Run discuss relationships and love.

“When Rev Run, Tyrese and CBS came to us with the idea of a primetime series we were energized by the chance to bring OWN viewers something fresh and entertainingly real in the ‘love space,’” said OWN’s president Sheri Salata, according to Variety. “We can’t wait to turn them loose — enlightening us all about what makes men tick.”

Complex reports that the show will house celebrity guests, a live audience and will feature heavy involvement from social media.

“Combining the enormous popularity of Tyrese and Rev Run with engaging topics like love and relationships will make a very entertaining hour for viewers,” Salata added.

This isn’t the first time the two have worked together, either. In 2013, Rev and Tyrese co-wrote the New York Times bestseller, Manology: Secrets of Your Man’s Mind Revealed.

The eight-episode weekly primetime talk show, developed and produced by CBS Television Distribution, is set for debut on OWN in early 2016. Longtime friends Tyrese Gibson and Rev Run, who collaborated on the New York Times bestselling book Man-ology, will lead discussions about relationships and love from a man’s point of view. This marks CBS Corp.’s first series for OWN. An ordained minister and father of six, Rev Run (aka Joseph Ward Simmons) and Tyrese, a single father, will be joined by a primetime studio audience and celebrity guests. Via social media, viewers can ask the pair questions about men, relationships, marriage and sex. “When Rev Run, Tyrese and CBS came to us with the idea of a primetime series we were energized by the chance to bring OWN viewers something fresh and entertainingly real in the ‘love space,’” said Sheri Salata, president, OWN. “We can’t wait to turn them loose – enlightening us all about what makes men tick.” Gibson starred in features Fast And Furious and Transformers. A four-time Grammy-nominated platinum recording artist, Gibson’s upcoming album, “Black Rose”– which marks his last solo album – will be released July 10, 2015 through his own label. Rev Run starred in MTV reality series Run’s Off and currently stars in Rev Runs Renovation on HGTV and DIY Network; Rev Run’s Sunday Suppers on The Cooking Channel; and Rev Run Around the World Adventures, set to debut later this year on The Travel Channel. On the music side, Rev Run tours with Run DMC, and he also authored several books including Take Back Your Family: How to Raise Respectful and Loving Kids in a Dysfunctional World, and Words of Wisdom: Daily Affirmations of Faith. CBS Television Distribution is producing the yet-to-be-titled series for OWN in association with Voltron Pictures and Simmons/Lehman Prods. Eric Pankowski created the show in collaboration with Tyrese and Rev Run. Pankowski is the showrunner/exec producer. Joining him as exec producers are Tyrese Gibson, Joseph Simmons, Jerome Martin, Isabella Castro and Michael Lehman.
