You just found out your significant other is cheating on you. While you’re completely devastated, you try to plot your next move. Do you let them know that you know their dirty little secret? Do you leave them without getting an explanation for their actions? Or do you confront the person who they’re cheating with?
BET’s popular scripted series, “Being Mary Jane,” showed us just how awkward and awful a conversation between a wife and “the other woman” could look. Gabrielle Union’s character, “Mary Jane,” found out that the man she was dating, was married and when faced with the chance to confront his wife, Mary Jane took it. The result was an emotionally shaken wife, who asked, “What do you want me to do with this information?” Was confronting the wife really a good idea?
We asked a ridiculously stylish married mother of two, June Ambrose and a single and minglin’ rapper, Yung Joc to explain why they would or wouldn’t confront the person their significant other was cheating with. Read their responses below.
HelloBeautiful: If you found out your significant other was cheating, would you confront the man or the woman?
June Ambrose: No. I don’t know what the point would be. If it’s proven evidence, what am I gonna say to her? But you can never say never until you’re in that position. If you’re in that situation, you don’t know what could happen. People commit crimes based on that moment [snaps fingers]. You don’t know what you’re capable of until you’re faced with it.
I’m a girl’s girl. I’m a sister girl, so I think it would be more like, I would want to have a conversation more as a sister and not make her feel like I’m breaking her family apart. I don’t think she should take full responsibility for that. I would want her to think about what her life is going to be like with someone who didn’t value her. I think most girls think, ‘Oh, I’m so good in the bed’ and that’s really not enough.
Yung Joc: I’m gonna confront my woman. I’d definitely not confront the dude unless it’s someone that’s close to me and I still wouldn’t confront him because I like for people to be in the dark and to think that I don’t know. I think it’s more powerful to know the truth than not expose that you know the truth.
What would YOU do? Sound off and make sure to tune into BET Centric’s According To Him & Her Friday, March 28 at 9pm/8c!
