D’Angelo’s comeback continues. After surprising fans as a performer at the Bonnaroo Music Festival, D’Angelo has been named as a performer at the 2012 BET Awards!
The President of Music Programming and Specials at BET, Stephen G. Hill, was too excited about the news to keep it private. Hill said the following:
“Usually, we love to keep surprises…but this year we want EVERYONE watching when D’Angelo takes the stage at the BET Awards! His talents have been away from us for far too long and we’re excited and honored that he’s decided to make his American re-entry at this year’s BET Awards.”
D’Angelo is really busy this year. He’s in the studio finishing work on his third album. The “Brown Sugar” singer is also gearing up for his performance at this year’s Essence Music Festival in New Orleans. Earlier in the year D’Angelo went on a limited tour of Europe.
Along with D’Angelo, the performers at the 2012 BET Awards include G.O.O.D. Music, the Maybach Music crew, and a top secret all-star tribute to Whitney Houston. Will you be watching the BET Awards when they air on Sunday, July 1st at 8pm?
