Strawberry Letter: What Is It About Me?

Hello Steve & Shirley:

I’m a 29 year old female with a big problem. I have been in a long term relationship with a great guy. My problem is not with him. The problem is me. I have stepped outside the relationship twice. The first time was 5 years ago. I was in college and I took this guy’s virginity (BIG MISTAKE). After our encounter, he wanted me to leave my boyfriend and be his girl, but I didn’t want to. I loved my man and I was just having fun during my college years.

The 2nd time was about 3 years ago. I met this guy just to have some fun and now he wants to be with me…He’s in love with me…he wants to marry me…What am I doing to these guys? I don’t try to hook these men, but it just happens. Recently, my ex boyfriend from high school has contacted me and now he wants to rekindle what we once had. I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to hurt these men’s feelings.

The relationship I’m in now is rocky because he’s broke and he is still trying to figure out who he is as a man. He’s a college graduate, but he can’t provide for us financially. I’m a CEO Executive Assistant and I try to be supportive until he finds a job, but it’s hard when I have so many other options to choose from (Entrepreneurs, Vice Presidents, Police Officers). I’m not a whore. I just like the attention I get from men. My boyfriend doesn’t show me the type of attention I like. Not necessarily in the bed (no problems there). It’s the little things…With the other men, I like the obsession they have for me and I don’t even try to turn them on. I can just be in their presence and I can sense their thirst for me…I love that…Even from the guys that don’t have a chance in hell to be with me…I love that attention, but I never wanted them to fall in love with me.

What to do?
