Strawberry Letter: Love Comes Back After 15 years
Dear Shirley and Steve,
I am a 35 year old married mother of two. I have been married to my husband for 5 years. Like most marriages we have good times and bad times. I work a full time job and pay the majority of the bills. Like a lot of couples we are struggling but always make ends meet. Recently we had a huge argument where I confronted him about our finances and since he has been helping more with the bills.
Two months ago a old boyfriend I dated when I was 20 and in college contacted me on Facebook. Back then I was young and in love a freshman in college. Like a lot of 20 year olds I made the mistake of staying at his house a little too often and became pregnant, we had decided to have the baby, but my parents found out and I was forced to have a abortion at 4 months.
My parents made me leave him and my school. When I came to see him months later he completely dissed me and acted as I did not exist. So when he contacted me on Facebook I was completely caught off guard. He apologized for how he had treated me etc. He told me he has a fiance, and I told him about my family. However he still wanted to see me. So I visited with him and now things have become physical between us. I know seeing him is wrong, but seeing him has brought back all of the feelings I had for him in the past.
I love my husband, but I still love my ex. Help what do I do? I feel very confused. I don’t want my anger toward my husband to drive me to my ex, but when I am with my ex I do not think about my husband. It feels like a release from my reality and it feels good.
