Three people have been arrested in connection with the December shooting death in Gwinnett County of 14-year-old Paul Sampleton, who police have definitively said was murdered over his expensive and hard to get sneaker collection.

Two 15-year-olds and an 18-year-old have been charged in Simpleton’s death, WSB-TV reports. All three suspects have been charged as adults.

Sampleton was a student at Grayson High School and was a star athlete who had aspirations of playing Division 1 college football. He was tied up and shot multiple times in the kitchen of his home.

Police charged 15-year-old Larnell Sillah with felony murder. Sillah reportedly attended Grayson with Simpleton. Authorities also charged 15-year-old Achiel Morgan and 18-year-old Romaine Stewart with the planning of the heinous crime.

According to a search warrant obtained by WSB-TV, the day of the murder, several pairs of high-end sneakers were stolen, including the pair Sampleton was wearing that day.

The investigation continues into other suspects.
