Gwinnett County Police believe the recent murder of Grayson High School freshman Paul Sampleton Jr. started off as a robbery, although the death is still under investigation.
Sampleton Jr. was killed on Wednesday after being bound and shot to death in the kitchen of his family’s home.
Although police aren’t saying what they think the robbery motive was, several of Paul’s friends told the AJC.com that they believe Paul was killed for his high-priced sneaker collection. According to his friends, Paul collected, traded and sold basketball shoes, specifically Nike Air Jordans.
While police acknowledge that is one possible motive, the investigation is ongoing.
