Bahama Breeze Is Closing Its Last Georgia Location

The last Bahama Breeze restaurant in Georgia will close this weekend. The Kennesaw location on Barrett Parkway will serve its final guests Saturday, August 29. After that, the familiar Caribbean themed restaurant will disappear from Georgia. The closure marks the end of Bahama Breeze in the state.

Why Bahama Breeze Is Closing

Darden Restaurants owns Bahama Breeze. The company announced that the brand was no longer a strategic priority. Darden decided to close some locations while converting others into different Darden concepts. The Kennesaw restaurant will become one of those converted locations. Darden expects the conversion process to take 12 to 18 months.

Bahama Breeze opened its first restaurant in Orlando in 1996.The brand built its reputation around Caribbean inspired food, tropical drinks, and an island themed atmosphere. That identity helped make the restaurant stand out among casual dining chains.

What Is Replacing Bahama Breeze?

Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen will eventually take over the Kennesaw location. Cheddar’s focuses on American comfort food, including chicken, seafood, steaks, sandwiches, salads, and classic sides. The restaurant also serves its popular honey butter croissants.

The new concept will create a noticeably different experience for local diners. Bahama Breeze emphasized Caribbean flavors and a vacation inspired atmosphere. Cheddar’s offers a more traditional American casual dining experience.

Darden has not announced an exact opening date for the new Kennesaw restaurant. The company previously said conversions could take 12 to 18 months.

The End of a Familiar Metro Atlanta Restaurant

The Kennesaw closure follows the earlier closure of Georgia’s other Bahama Breeze location in Duluth. That leaves the Barrett Parkway restaurant as the state’s final location. Local diners now have one last weekend to visit before the doors close.

For longtime customers, the closure means more than losing another restaurant. The location became part of birthdays, family dinners, date nights, and nights out with friends. Now, Kennesaw gets a new restaurant while Georgia says goodbye to a familiar name.
