Atlanta Drivers, Brace Yourselves… More I-285 Shutdowns Are Coming Until 2028
If you thought this past weekend’s major I-285 shutdown between MLK Drive and Cascade Road was stressful… unfortunately, that was just the beginning.
According to GDOT, more lane closures and shutdowns are expected in the coming months as crews continue work on the massive I-285 reconstruction project. And here’s the part that has Atlanta drivers collectively screaming into the void: the entire project is not expected to be completed until 2028.
Yes. 2028.
Which means we still have about two more years of detours, brake lights, GPS reroutes, and praying traffic magically clears up before your exit.
GDOT officials have not released any additional dated.
