After school let out in Chicago to rival gangs met in the streets to go to war. During melee Derrion Albert, an honor student was trying to go home when he was struck by a 2 by 4 and repeatedly stomped by gang members. This happened to Derrion twice, he was actually attacked by both gangs and was pronounced dead at the hospital. To add insult to injury, the makeshift memorial that was set up for Derrion has been burned. This is just one isolated case in a string of child on child murders that have taken place in Chicago. Chicago officials say they will be spending $30 million on counselors and mentorship programs for kids to see if they can make change in the hearts of the youth. So far four teens have been charged with murder of Derrion Albert. Another one of our youth gone too soon.
