Riding yourself of unwanted fat is a combination of the proper diet and exercise. Here are 10 tips that can help you get rid of the extra flab for good.

Drink More Water. I know, this sounds like a no brainer but very few people get the recommended 8 glasses of water per day. In fact, some experts say that your water consumption should match your weight. For example, a 150 pound person should drink 150 ounces of water per day (which is much more than the “standard” 64 ounces of water). If that’s too much, try to at least get in 8, 8 ounce glasses.

Burn More Calories Than You Eat. Weight loss is all about calorie deficit. But you want to be smart about it. Start by cutting between 300-500 calories. So if you burn 1800 calories a day, then eat no more than 1300-1500 calories. At this rate, you’ll lose about a pound per week.

Avoid Starchy Carbohydrates. Too many starchy foods like bread, rice, pasta, potato chips, etc, will cause your body to overdose on carbs and makes it more difficult to burn this extra energy. If you “must” have these foods, focus on smaller doses early in the day so you’ll have time to burn it off.
