Production is already under way in New Orleans, for the remake of Alex Hailey’s “Roots.” The story of Kunte Kinte will have a simultaneous premiere on History, A&E, and Lifetime at some point next year.
The mini-series is set to star veteran actors, Forest Whitaker, Anika Noni Rose, Derek Luke, “The Wire’s” Chad Coleman and Laurence Fishburne to name a few. The role of Kunte Kinte will be played by newcomer and British Actor, Malachi Kirby.
Again, there’s still no official premiere date but critics are already talking Emmy nominations!
