Academy Award winner Mo’Nique stopped by Majic 107.5 / 97.5 and had a very revealing sit down interview with Carol Blackmon. She went into detail about director Lee Daniels and taking only $50,000 to do Precious, as well as the rumor that she’s been blackballed by Hollywood.
“I think where people get confused is just behind my no. No means you’re difficult especially when you look like me,” said Mo’Nique. “I’m a black, fat woman. So people look at me and it’s almost like, ‘you gonna say something, cause you know how limited your chances are, so why not just let them use you. Why not just let me do what normally gets done. It’s just the business.’ Well I’m one of those fat black women that says, there’s gonna be some fat black women that come behind me and when do we stand up and say, I’m no longer willing to accept less than what I’m worth. I don’t want any more, but I can no longer accept less. That’s all this whole thing is about.”
She also discussed her family and her new movie Blackbird, which opens on April 24th.
