After going on a 22-month hiatus following backlash from her racist remarks, Paula Deen will be returning to television. The Georgia-bred chef will debut her own cooking show on Evine Live. The show, called “Paula Deen’s Kitchen,” will kick off with a three-hour premiere and will feature live segments every few weeks. Mark Bozek, CEO of Evine, believes that Paula deserves a new beginning and spoke highly of Deen, saying that she has a good soul. “Everybody makes mistakes,” he said. Read more.


Inmates Are Being Hit With Fees Upon Their Release

We’ve all heard the saying “do the crime, pay the time,” but many inmates are finding themselves in situations where they have to pay fees out of their own pockets after paying their debt to society. Pre-paid debit cards have been marketed to prisoners as an easy way for them to get their funds returned upon release, but the companies have fees that quickly add up. “So you could go to jail overnight with a $20 bill in your pocket and when you’re released the next day, you’re given a release debit card and it has a $10 monthly fee,” said Aleks Kajstura, legal director at the Prison Policy Initiative. Kirk Franklin Puts Creflo Dollar On Blast

When Pastor Creflo Dollar launched a campaign to get people to donate money so that he could purchase a $65 million Gulfstream G650 airplane, many people gave him the side-eye, including gospel musician Kirk Franklin. In an op-ed piece, Franklin questioned the pastor’s motives. “We don’t have a shortage of greatness, we have a shortage of character. When a pastor wants people to buy him a private plane while a missionary in Somalia bathes children with sores, that’s a shortage of character,” he wrote. “When I camouflage my ‘greeds’ to look like ‘needs,’ that’s a shortage of character.” Read more.
