Former NBA and Atlanta Hawks star Mookie Blaylock was sentenced to 15 years in prison Monday (October 27) after pleading guilty to killing a mother of five in a May 2013 car crash. Blaylock chose to plead guilty rather than face a jury.
Blaylock was sentenced for vehicular homicide and other charges in the death of Monica Murphy in a head-on-collision in Clayton County on May 31, 2013. The ex-basketball star was seriously injured in the crash and temporarily on life support, but was released from the hospital days later.
Under Blayblock’s plea, he will serve seven years in prison followed by eight on probation. Four of the seven years will be suspended.
