Is favoritism finally coming to an end?

As everyone knows the Grammy Awards tend to be bias when it comes to various categories, including the highly favorited, “Song of the Year” category. The Recording Academy has sought out to make several changes, including their latest rule that will now allow songs that include samples to be nominated in all songwriting categories.

Prior to this new rule, samples were only allowed in the “Best Rap Song” category. What does this new change mean exactly? This now means that popular songs such as “Holy Grail” by Jay Z and Justin Timberlake and “Move That Dope” by Future which all include samples and were overlooked in several categories are now permitted to be included in more than one Grammy category.

In addition to the new set of rules, the academy has also redefined the Gospel and contemporary Christian category, which now means that we can expect a total of 83 awards to be handed out at the 2015 Grammys.

One small step for music, one giant step for hip hop.
