American fashion designer and former model L’Wren Scott was found dead Monday morning in her New York City apartment from an alleged suicide. According to reports, Scott texted her assistant to “come by” her place, only to find her hanging from a door knob with a scarf around her neck. The cause of death is undetermined and there was no sign of a note or forced entry in Scott’s apartment.
Scott, who has been Mick Jagger‘s longtime companion since 2003, was known for designing elegant pieces with jeweled embellishments that elongated many of her celebrity clients’ curves, including Naomi Campbell and Oprah. Campbell posted a picture of herself and Scott on Instagram and wrote her condolences.
“I am deeply shocked and devastated by the news. L’Wren was someone I knew since I was 17. We travelled the world together many times. L’Wren was someone I always loved. She was the epitome of elegance and femininity yet still had a girlish quality. I will miss her honesty and I will miss her friendship. My heart goes out to Mick and all who loved her and were loved by her. May she Rest in Peace.”
In reaction to the tragic news, The Rolling Stones cancelled a scheduled concert that was meant for March 19 in Australia.
