The life and death of legendary rapper Tupac is a story that has been trying to make it to the big screen since his murder in 1996. The biopic has been very touch and go with getting greenlit, but it has regained some steam since popular director John Singleton is back on board with directing the Tupac feature.
It was recently reported that Singleton will rewrite the script and produce the Tupac biopic along with his directing duties. John Singleton is taking this project very seriously because he got a chance to work with Tupac on the 90s hood classic “Poetic Justice.”
The Tupac film will follow Pac’s humble beginnings as a homeless teen and his rise to fame and power in the music industry and detail his tragic death following attending a Las Vegas boxing match. When asked about why he chose to be involved in the Tupac film, Singleton said, “Tupac was the guy who I planned to do a lifetime of films with. His passing deeply affected my life as well as countless people in this world. His life story is as important to my generation.”
The project is still in development, but we can’t wait to see how this rapper biopic turns out.
