Former NFL superstar and Atlanta Falcon Deion Sanders has been fired from Prime Prep Academy, a Dallas charter school he co-founded, after he was accused of assault by an employee of the school.

According to The Dallas Morning News, police are currently looking into claims made by school employee Kevin Jefferson after an incident during a faculty meeting. Sanders, who is also an analyst for the NFL Network and a former Atlanta Brave, was apparently upset about the poor class performance by some of the school’s athletes.

Jefferson claims that a verbal argument with Sanders led to the former football star grabbing him by the throat and pushing him to the ground before other people stepped in to stop the altercation.

The school’s superintendent Rachel King-Sanders released the following statement:

“Effective immediately, Deion Sanders is no longer an employee or representative for Prime Prep Academy. Prime Prep is committed to continually improving as an educational institution and it will continue to strive for excellence in every aspect.”

Sanders’ ex-wife Pilar previously accused Deion of assaulting her. The couple’s highly-publicized divorce was finalized over the summer.

Deion tweeted this today, so stay tuned to see how this plays out:
