Strawberry Letter: Did I Break-Up His Family
Hi Steve and Shirley,
I have been dating this guy for three years but now that he is divorced and wants to marry me, I am having second thoughts. I worked for this guy for over a years and knew he had a crush on me. I try to avoid him, but one day we ended up at the same party, we talk and realized that we had a lot in common. He told me he was married, but he was legally separated and living on his own. He did not go into the details and we decided to meet the next day for dinner. Long story short, ever since that day we started seeing each other outside of work and I started to fall for him. A a few months after he told me that his wife was pregnant, and he didn’t know about it until that very day he told me. I was not convinced so I told him we need to stop seeing each other. I stopped working for him and got another job so I would not have see him every day. I also encouraged him to go back to his wife and kids, and he did. He stayed until the baby turned one. During this time we just talked – we never went out or had any kind of intimate contact, but I never stopped loving him. He said he loved me and wanted to be with me. He told me that the relationship between he and his wife had been over before he knew me and he is with her because of the baby, and now that the baby is old enough, he is going forward with the divorce. A week ago he brought the divorce papers, engagement ring and got down on one knee and proposed to me. Even though I long for this guy I couldn’t say yes. I told him I will think about it. What do I do?
