Anger over the George Zimmerman’s verdict continues to rage in Atlanta and across the country. There will be several Justice for Trayvon rallies this weekend.
- THE SCLC YOUTH SUMMIT
Activists will meet with young men and boys to educate them about civil rights and their expected actions after this controversial case. The summit starts at 11 am on Saturday (7/20) at the SCLC Headquarters on Auburn Avenue.
- TRAYVON MARTIN RALLY AND PRAYER VIGIL
Leading pastors, activists and attorneys will call on the federal government to press for civil rights violations charges against Zimmerman. They’ll also focus on the “Stand your Ground Law.”
This rally begins at 12 noon, Saturday (7/20) and it’s in coordination with similar demonstrations in 100 cities around the country.
- “I AM TRAYVON MARTIN” RALLY
CobbCountySCLC and other activists will meet at the Marietta Town Square from 6 until 8:30, Saturday (7/20) to speak against the Zimmerman acquittals.
- “WHO WILL BE THE NEXT TRAYVON?” DISCUSSION
Activists Josie Dean, Gerald Rose and Iffat M. Walker will lead a community discussion beginning at 6 pm on Saturday (7/20) at the Taste Bar and Grill, 2270 Salem Road, 101-A in Conyers. Topics will include the controversial Stand your ground laws in Georgia and Florida
