President Obama returns to Atlanta tomorrow (June 26) for more fundraising, and while he’s in town he’s hoping to stop by the Atlanta film set of 42, the Jackie Robinson biopic that’s just about done filming.

The movie, which has been shooting in Birmingham, Chattanooga and Macon, is wrapping up with some final background scenes in Atlanta this week. Although Robinson grew up in California, he was born in Cairo, in south Georgia. He famously broke major league baseball’s color-barrier when he joined the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947.

Legendary Entertainment chief Thomas Tull told Deadline that they received a call from the White House earlier this week to see if it would be OK if Obama came by. Tull said of course it would be okay. Tull has given $35,800 to the Obama Victory Fund 2012.

The Brian Helgeland-directed film stars Harrison Ford as Dodgers GM Branch Rickey and Chadwick Boseman as Jackie Robinson. 42, which was Robinson’s jersey number, is scheduled to be released on April 12, 2013, not long after the MLB season opener.

The last time President Obama was in town was on March 16 for a pair of fundraisers at Tyler Perry’s film and TV studio in southwest Atlanta.
