Before popular clothing designers L.A.M.B, Proenza Schouler & Zac Posen showed their newest clothing collections at New York’s Fashion Week Spring 2012, they enlisted nail beauty professionals from Perfect Formula & Essie to create complementary nail colors to help complete their runway design visions.
The inspiration for L.A.M.B.’s navy nail shade were “graphic prints and Indian themes,” said Essie manicurist, Elle. This muted blue nail shade Bobbing for Baubles is “very feminine and it ties in all of the colorful fabrics and prints from the collections for a provocative nail,” said founder Essie Weingarten. This is a classic shade that makes a statement.
Perfect Formula Founder Shari Gottesman made her Fashion Week debut at Proenza Schouler’s Spring/Summer 2012 Collection. The inspiration for this yellow/mustard shade Pollen (on sale qvc.com Feb. ’12, $13.50) was the designer’s “very prim lines, paired with funky fabrics, colors and patterns,” said Shari. Pollen pairs beautifully with the bold color palette of the collection and “feels very fresh and modern for Spring.”
The ethereal nail shade at Zac Posen’s show was inspired by the romantic silks and chiffon’s in Zac’s collection. “The soft, whimsical pairing of Demure Vixen & Au Natural complements the delicate and airy creations Zac is known for,” said Essie manicurist Elle. “There’s nothing more chic or lady-like than a natural, nude nail. The multi-dimensional tones in these two shades work in tandem to bring this timeless look to new heights. Matchy matchy is making a comeback in a whole sophisticated new way,” said founder Essie Weingarten.
