Strawberry Letter: I Love My Man, But I Can’t Kiss Him
Dear Steve and Shirley,
I am a 46 year old woman who has been in a relationship with my man for 5 years. I Love my man very much he is really good to me and we have a great relationship. In the beginning of our relationship we used to kiss a lot, but a year into it, I noticed that his breath started to smell really bad.
One night when he spent the night at my house, the next morning I noticed that the pillow he was sleeping on was all stained up with a brown color and had a bad smell to it. Even the mattress where he slept also had the stain and smell. This is because when he sleeps he drools and snores with his mouth open all the time. I would wait until he left and I would spray it with air freshener, but it didn’t take the stains away. It’s gotten to the point where we have not kissed intimately in over 3 years, and I love to kiss but we only peck kiss.
I have spoken to him about this trying not to offend him or hurt his feelings. He does not take good care of his teeth. Normally I would never deal with anyone that has bad teeth or bad breath. It was not like this in the beginning. I can’t kiss him without getting nauseous. To this day I have to constantly change my mattress and pillows because of the smell and stains from him drooling.
He has not done anything about this matter yet. I can’t take it anymore. What do I do?
