In response to the NBA's decision to suspend him indefinitely, without pay, Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas has released a statement through his attorney. "I feel very badly that my actions have caused the NBA to suspend me, but I understand why the league took this action," said Arenas.

In a statement released with his attorney, Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas described his handling of guns as "a misguided effort to play a joke on a teammate. Contrary to some news accounts, I never threatened or assaulted anyone with the guns and never pointed them at anyone."

Gilbert Arenas continued to dispute media accounts of his recent locker-room confrontation with teammate Javaris Crittenton but conceded that he used "bad judgment" just by having three firearms on Washington Wizards property
