Jesse Jackson criticized Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert on Sunday, saying Gilbert sees LeBron James as a “runaway slave” and that the owner’s comments after the free-agent forward decided to join the Miami Heat put the player in danger.

The owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers was not happy about LeBron’s decision to leave the club after 7 years. In a scathing open letter to Cavaliers fans the majority owner Dan Gilbert called LeBron’s decision to leave a “cowardly betrayal.”

LeBron James put the NBA on notice Thursday night, joining Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami. “I can’t say it was always in my plans, because I never thought it was possible,” James said.

Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are teaming up together on the Miami Heat, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. ESPN's Shelley Smith also reported the pending move through independent sources.
