Atlanta singer Janelle Monae and actor Hill Harper are hosting a fundraiser for President Obama tonight in the president’s hometown of Chicago.
President Obama left for Chicago after hosting an “Insourcing American Jobs” forum with Vice President Joe Biden. The forum was also attended by Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed.
President Obama’s campaign has already raised more than $150 million through September, but with several Republican “super PACS” (which can raise and spend unlimited amounts of money anonymously to back specific candidates) in operation Democrats will need to have the cash continue to roll in.
Harper is a longtime friend of President Obama and attended Harvard Law School with him.
