ATLANTA — Channel 2 Action News reporter Tom Jones has learned the state has offered Aimee Michael, the woman accused of causing a crash that killed five people last Easter, a sentence of 50 years in prison. A final plea hearing was under way Tuesday morning.

Channel 2 Action News has also learned that the state is offering Sheila Michael, Aimee Michael’s mom, a plea deal of 5 years to serve 3 years in prison. Sheila Michael is accused of arranging to have her daughter’s damaged BMW repaired to hide the fact it was involved in the deadly crash.

Aimee Michael faces 15 counts including vehicular homicide, hit and run, and reckless driving.

Aimee Michael told investigators she was in her BMW, going to the store to pick up cake and ice cream, when she was involved in the wreck that killed five people on Easter Sunday in 2009.

She said she drove home, parked the BMW in the garage and didn’t tell anyone about the wreck for two days, before confiding in her mother.

Robert and Delisia Carter, their newborn son, Ethan, and Delisia Carter’s 9-year-old daughter, Kayla, died in the chain-reaction crash near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Also killed was 6-year-old Morgan Johnson, whose mother, 43-year-old Tracie Johnson of Atlanta was injured.
