Nearly a week after the devastating earthquake struck near Haiti’s capital, donations for relief efforts are still pouring in — in excess of $200 million. Charities, companies, individuals and celebrities across the U.S. have been rallying together in the aftermath of the 7.0-magnitude quake last Tuesday, and their efforts are paying off.

In the early ’80s, Stevie Wonder launched a campaign demanding the recognition of Rev Dr Martin Luther Jr.’s birthday as a national holiday. Stevie composed “Happy Birthday” in honor of King and the song quickly became a hit.

Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas pleaded guilty Friday in D.C. Superior Court to a felony count of carrying a pistol without a license, leaving his career in the NBA in jeopardy. Arenas will be sentenced on March 26.
