Washington, D.C.'s City Council voted Tuesday to legalize gay marriage, giving supporters a victory after a string of recent defeats elsewhere and sending the issue to Congress, which has final say over laws in the nation’s capital.

Dwight Howard, a center for the Orlando Magic and graduate of Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy, has filed two lawsuits in Orange County, Fla. against Royce Lyndsay Reed, the mother of his son, according to news reports.

Kasim Reed won the Atlanta mayor's race by 714 votes, a recount of the Dec. 1 runoff results showed Wednesday.
