Class Is Back in Session: First Look at the New A Different World

Netflix has officially dropped the first trailer for the highly anticipated A Different World sequel, giving fans a first look at the next generation of Hillman College students.

The trailer introduces Deborah Wayne, the daughter of beloved characters Dwayne Wayne and Whitley Gilbert, as she begins her freshman year at Hillman. As she navigates college life, Deborah is ready to make her own mark while carrying on her family’s Hillman legacy.

The new series also brings back several familiar faces from the original show, including Jasmine Guy as Whitley Gilbert and Kadeem Hardison as Dwayne Wayne, and Debbie Allen.

With a new generation of students and some familiar Hillman faces returning, the sequel looks to bring back the heart, humor, friendships, and unforgettable college experience that made the original A Different World a fan favorite.

A Different World premieres September 24, 2026, exclusively on Netflix.
