Black Music Moguls’ Award Show in Atlanta
Atlanta’s music industry elite gathered this past weekend for the 7th Annual Black Music Moguls Awards Brunch and Power Summit, an event dedicated to celebrating the executives, visionaries, and culture shifters whose contributions continue to shape Black music and entertainment. The weekend brought together artists, executives, entrepreneurs, and tastemakers for networking, education, and recognition of some of the industry’s most influential leaders.

This year’s honorees included Jermaine Dupri, Chaka Zulu, Jeff Dixon, Walter J. Tucker, and Amber Grimes. Each was recognized for their lasting impact on artist development, business leadership, and advancing opportunities throughout the music industry.
One of the most memorable moments of the afternoon came when Jermaine Dupri accepted his honor. The Grammy-winning producer, songwriter, and founder of So So Def was visibly emotional after a heartfelt tribute video featuring messages from artists and collaborators whose careers he helped shape over the decades. Da Brat, one of Dupri’s earliest and most successful discoveries, delivered a particularly moving message that highlighted their decades-long relationship and the impact he has had on countless artists.

As the video played, Dupri appeared overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and appreciation. The Atlanta music icon took a moment to compose himself before addressing the audience, reflecting on the journey from building So So Def Records into a cultural powerhouse to helping launch some of the biggest names in Hip-Hop and R&B. His emotional reaction served as a reminder that behind the accolades and business success is a legacy built on relationships, mentorship, and belief in talent.

Throughout the weekend, attendees celebrated not only the accomplishments of the honorees but also the continued influence of Atlanta as a global music capital. Panel discussions, networking opportunities, and special presentations reinforced the event’s mission of honoring those who work both in front of and behind the scenes to push the culture forward.
The Black Music Moguls platform has become a premier destination for recognizing excellence in music leadership, and this year’s class of honorees reflected the breadth of talent and innovation driving the industry today. From legendary executives and artist managers to event producers and cultural architects, the celebration highlighted the individuals whose work often goes unseen but remains essential to the success of the music business.

As the event concluded, one thing was clear: the legacy of Black music continues to thrive because of leaders like Jermaine Dupri and his fellow honorees—visionaries whose influence extends far beyond the charts and whose contributions will impact generations to come.
