A new survey from Uswitch.com highlights the everyday habits that spark the most family arguments. According to the findings, leaving lights on in empty rooms is the number one energy-related trigger, with 44% of respondents saying it causes tension at home.

Other common sources of frustration include leaving electronic devices switched on, keeping the TV blaring when no one is watching, and disagreements over thermostat settings. In fact, 19% of people admit to secretly changing the temperature without telling other household members.

Energy bills themselves are also a major source of conflict, with 31% of couples saying they argue about how much they spend on gas and electricity. The survey suggests that rising energy costs are putting added pressure on households, turning small daily habits into bigger points of contention.
