Instagram has announced a new feature designed to alert parents if their child searches for harmful content related to suicide or self-harm.

According to Meta Platforms, parents who use Instagram’s supervision tools will soon receive notifications if their teen repeatedly searches for suicide- or self-harm-related topics within a short period of time.

Caregivers will be alerted via email, WhatsApp, or in-app notifications and will also receive access to mental health resources to help address potential concerns.

The feature will roll out to families enrolled in Instagram’s Teen Accounts experience in the UK, US, Australia, and Canada.
