Michael Jackson’s 30 Seconds That Changed Everything
In a new documentary called TMZ Presents Michael Jackson: 30 Fatal Seconds we see powerful footage from a moment many of us have heard about but never truly understood. Back in 1984, while filming a Pepsi commercial, Michael’s hair caught fire from pyrotechnics. The burn was severe and painful and it set off a chain of changes in his life.
Before that day, Michael wasn’t using drugs. But the pain from the injury made him rely on prescription painkillers and later stronger medicines to sleep. This slow slide into dependency is something the documentary connects directly to that accident.
We also learn how the injury influenced his feelings about his appearance and led to more surgeries. The film is streaming now on Hulu for those who want to see the story unfold in full.
