Looks like Georgia just confirmed its first measles case of 2026. The Georgia Department of Public Health says, a baby who was too young to get the vaccine, caught the virus while traveling internationally and lives down in the Coastal Health District around Savannah. Because measles spreads through the air when someone coughs or sneezes, health teams are now trying to track down anyone who might’ve been exposed so they can keep it from spreading.

Now, measles isn’t something to sleep on! Symptoms can show up 7–14 days after exposure, starting with fever, cough and runny eyes before that classic rash appears. But the good news is there is a way to protect your family: the MMR vaccine, which is shown to be safe and effective and usually given starting around 12–15 months old. For babies who are traveling abroad before that age, docs sometimes recommend an early dose. If you’ve got questions about vaccines or think you or your kid might’ve been exposed, reach out to your doctor right away. More info on this story here
