Federal Workers Get Extra Days Off
The President just signed an executive order giving federal workers extra days off around Christmas — not just the usual Christmas Day, but also Christmas Eve (Dec. 24) and the day after Christmas (Dec. 26). That means federal employees could have a whole three‑day break — Dec. 24, 25 and 26 — without having to work.
This is a little unusual because usually federal offices only close on Christmas Day, and sometimes the day before or after depending on how the calendar falls. But giving both days off together is something we don’t see every year. The Economic Times
It’s important to know that this only applies to federal workers, meaning people who work for the U.S. government. It doesn’t automatically mean private companies have to do the same, but sometimes private employers follow those federal holiday patterns too.
Also, the order lets agency bosses decide if certain people still need to come in for work — especially jobs where someone must be on duty for safety or national security.
So if you’ve got friends or family in government jobs, they might be enjoying a longer holiday break this year — and that’s definitely something to talk about over your own Christmas gatherings or Sunday dinner! 🎄✨
