Chicken Recall!!
A Georgia-based company called Suzanna’s Kitchen had to pull over 60,000 pounds of their fully cooked, bone-in breaded chicken off the map because of a serious labeling mix-up. The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service says the chicken actually had soy in it — a common allergen — but the label didn’t say a thing about that. That’s a big deal for folks with food sensitivities or allergies, and even though this product went mostly to restaurants nationwide and not into regular grocery stores, chefs, and owners are being told to check their freezers and just toss it if it’s there.
Now, thank goodness we haven’t heard about anyone actually getting sick from this yet, but that doesn’t mean it’s nothing. Soy allergies can be rough, and some people can react really badly, so this recall ain’t something to sleep on. The USDA and Suzanna’s Kitchen are urging everyone in the food business to get rid of it pronto so nobody accidentally gets served something they can’t eat. If you’re curious about the specifics like the product code or when it was made, folks can reach out to Suzanna’s Kitchen or the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline for more info. Stay safe and check before you serve!
