SNELLVILLE, Ga. — A 16-year-old boy is recovering after being shot in the chest after a football game at South Gwinnett High School.

Snellville police said the fight broke out at about 11 p.m. Friday immediately after the game. The victim attended the pre-scrimmage game between South Gwinnett and Mill Creek, but a representative for the district said neither the victim nor the shooter attend South Gwinnett High School.

Police said they have a person of interest, but have yet to make an arrest.

The shooting happened across the street from the high school at Britt Elementary School. Officers remained there throughout the night to secure the scene.

Police have not released the name of the teen victim, but said he was recovering at Gwinnett Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
