From KXLY.com:

A Spokane, Washington couple is rounding the homestretch of their can collecting goal in order to pay for their July wedding. In seven months, Andrea Parrish and Peter Geyer have collected 234,000 cans and received cash donations equal to 119,000 cans.

That leaves 46,000 or so cans left to before they reach their goal of 400,000 cans by their wedding date at the end of July. The project that started in the couple’s living room has now moved outside to their back porch where Parrish and Geyer are storing their can collection.

“I’m amazed at actually how big it is,” said Geyer, surrounded by dozens of trash bags filled with cans.”It’s about 8 feet high and 20 feet across and 10 feet deep or so,” said Parrish, describing the shear size of the pile.Parrish said the past few months have been both overwhelming and humbling.

“We have received messages from people across the world who have stolen the idea and we’re so excited about that,” she said.Parrish said she received an e-mail from one woman collecting cans to pay for a organ transplant and a note from another couple collecting cans to pay for an adoption.
