Last Minute Halloween Makeup Look For The Girl With No Costume

Halloween is next week Thursday and if you’re like me…you have no costume (or you rotate the same costume every other year). Honestly, sometimes in the hustle and bustle and busyness of life, you just don’t have time to put in anything extra for the day.

…and that’s okay. (And #TeamBeautiful has you covered).

Doing an intricate makeup look can be time consuming (if you don’t have time, feel free to use GlamSquad to book makeup services). If you don’t have extra money to book a makeup artist to help you achieve your look, you can still DIY yourself if you have some black lipstick, black fine point eyeliner, and red lipstick.

This spooky spider makeup look is perfect with any all black outfit and will have you getting compliments all night. Watch the video above and keep reading as we show you step by step on how to recreate this ghoulish look!

Start with a clean face.

You’ll want to start with a clean face. You can use Pond’s Cold Cream Cleanser ($4.97, walmart.com) to make sure that you don’t have any makeup or residue on your face. Afterward, you’ll want to do the basics for your face. Fill in your brows, apply your foundation and concealer. Afterward, also put some lip moisturizer on your lips to prep your lips for later. Personally, I love Urban Skin Rx Hydrating Lip Treatment ($16.00, urbanskinrx.com).

Set up the foundation for the web eye.

You’ll want to have black on your lid of your eye. While you can use powder, Kelli Bartlett, the Artistic Director of GlamSquad recommended using a liquid lipstick on the eye. You can use a cream or matte formula, just make sure it’s not something that’s going to move easily. I love Lime Crime Black Velvet Matte Lipstick ($20.00, limecrime.com). It’s a true black and not going anywhere!

Afterward, you’ll want to use an eyeliner to create the “legs” for the spider web on the eye. Bartlett used Urban Decay Perversion Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner ($22.00, sephora.com). Bartlett shared a pro-tip on how to create the legs: “Think of it like a clock. You go from noon to 2 o’clock to 4 o’clock…choose all odd numbers or even numbers.” Afterward, you will want to create a “u” shape to connect the lines and start to make the web.

It matters what kind of eyeliner pen you use. Bartlett shared, “You’ll want to choose a pen with a really fine point. It doesn’t have to be the world’s most expensive liquid liner.” If you are looking for something more affordable, I love Black Radiance Fine Line Liquid Eyeliner ($3.29, blackradiancebeauty.com).

Bartlett encourages, “If you mess up, don’t worry! Use the Pond’s Cold Cream and use a Q-tip. It helps you to fix it precisely.”

Add a cute spider and define with some red.

Now it’s time to decorate the spider web! You can draw a cute spider. Just do a circular body and some legs, again if you mess up use either a Q-tip or a flat brush to clean it up. For the eyes, you can use red jewels. You can stick the red jewels on your face with eyelash glue. It lasts!

For the red under the “u’s”, Bartlett reveals, “Use a liquid lip, it acts as a cream color. Most of us have that Fenty Beauty Stunna ($24.00, sephora.com) at home, this is perfect for that.” Personally, I find that Stunna Lip Paint transfers all over the damn place (even though the color is gorgeous). So feel free to use your favorite matte red. Bartlett used Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lip in Serafine ($20.00, ulta.com).

You can also add an eyelash to give a more dramatic effect. I love Kiss Lash Couture Faux Mink in Gala ($5.99, kissusa.com).

Stitched lips.

These stitched lips create a cute look without a lot of effort. You only need three products: red lipstick, black eyeliner, and translucent powder. You can use the same red lipstick that you used to accent your spider web. Apply it like you would apply your red lipstick.

Now it’s time for the x’s to create the “stitch.” Just make x’s over the top and bottom part of your lips. You can do as many or as little as you like. You can use the same black eyeliner as you did for your eyes. Bartlett explained, “I’m a big fan of multi-use! No one is trying to spend a million dollars on products.” We agree with you, sis!

At the end of your night, you are going to want to remove this eye makeup gently. Your eye area is some of the thinnest and most sensitive parts of your skin. Using Pond’s Cold Cream is great because it’s mainly made up of moisturizer and is gentle on your skin.
