Metro Atlanta rises to 4th in new HIV cases

Metro Atlanta now ranks fourth in the nation when it comes to new HIV infections.  The CDC released new data that shows Atlanta moved up a notch from 5th place last year.  Mayor Kasim Reed announced a new medical advisory committee to help the city tackle public health issues like this.  Dr. John Ouderkirk will be on that advisory committee he is the medical director at AIDS healthcare foundation, he says fighting HIV infections requires testing and safe behaviors.

We are a day away from Atlanta choosing a new mayor to run the city.  Keisha Lance Bottoms and Mary Norwood will be in Tuesday’s run-off. Both mayoral candidates have gotten some powerful endorsements these past couple of weeks, but if Mary Norwood wins she will be Atlanta’s first Republican mayor since 1973.  Polls open tomorrow (Dec. 5) morning at 7 a.m.
