Call him a sore loser all you want, Cam Newton is a pretty awesome guy.

On Friday, the Carolina Panthers’ quarterback was on a break from filming near a middle school, when he noticed a student wearing his jersey while throwing a football with a friend in the schoolyard.

As reported by Complex, the NFL player popped up out of nowhere at the Community School of Davidson in North Carolina, asked the school administration if could hop the middle school’s fence, and then proceeded to make dreams come true.

What happened next was literally a scene from a pre-teen’s fantasy: Cam threw the ball around, took pictures, and even did a group Dab with the kids. The students were so overjoyed that they wrote thank you notes to him soon after the visit.

“I am in a hard place in my life, because my parents are getting divorced,” one the student wrote according to WSOC. “But to me you are now a symbol of hope and that even when things go bad there is always happiness.”

The 26-year-old and his longtime girlfriend, Kia Proctor, welcomed a baby son last December. And despite losing the Super Bowl 50 to Denver, he’s kept a positive demeanor and busy schedule.

ESPN reports that Newton has been spending most of his time in the Los Angeles area filming his new Nickelodeon reality show that will debut in June. The final episodes were being filmed in the Charlotte area, which allows Newton to participate in off-season training sessions.
