2016 is already shaping up to be a good year for Morris Chestnut. His FOX series, “Rosewood” was renewed for a second season and he’s set to star in the highly anticipated film, “The Best Man Wedding”. During an interview with “The Breakfast Club”, Morris finally set the record straight about a rumor that has been lingering over his career for years.

In the late 80s, Morris raised a little boy named Dante that he thought was his son until a paternity test proved otherwise. Following the success of Boyz In The Hood, Morris decided to cut ties with Dante’s mother and he claims to have sat down with the little boy and explained that he was not his father.

Now 30-years-old, Dante is still bitter about the situation. Reportedly, he went on a Facebook rant saying that Morris got brand new after becoming famous and that his wife of 20 years, Pam, made Morris turn his back on his first family.

“Once he was “Ricky” and got his recognition, he stopped being my father! Started another life with a new wife and kids and I’m totally nonexistent. You know what it does mentally to grow up reaching out to your father and the only way you can see or hear your pops is in movies, TV, billboards, etc” wrote Dante.

Morris also said in the interview that despite telling Dante the truth, he’s been “brainwashed” into believing otherwise.

In the interview, the 47-year-old also talked about what to expect from the new season of “Rosewood” (spoiler alert, he won’t be taking off his shirt nearly as much!) In the wake of #OscarsSoWhite Morris shares the challenges he’s faced in Hollywood as a black actor and he admits to being uncomfortable by some of Chris Rock’s racial jokes during the Academy Awards.
