Richard King has lost his lawsuit against members of legendary songstress Patti LaBelle’s (pictured) entourage, whom he claimed physically assaulted him without provocation nearly three years ago as he waited for a lift outside of a Houston airport terminal, according to KHOU 11.

Back when the alleged incident took place, King, who was on spring break from the U.S. Military Academy of West Point, claims he  was standing on a curb outside of Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport, when he was suddenly attacked by LaBelle’s 400-pound bodyguard, Efrem Holmes. King also alleged that LaBelle’s hairdresser, Norma Harris, and son, Zuri Edwards, joined in on the physical attack, which supposedly caused him a traumatic brain injury, ultimately forcing him to drop out of the military academy.

During the trial that consisted of five days of testimony, one of LaBelle’s lawyers, Geoffrey Bracken, said that it was King, though, who was the actual aggressor during the fracas: King allegedly spewed racist insults at LaBelle and then physically went after Edwards. Bracken also pointed out that King allegedly tried to gain access to LaBelle by opening her limo car door, even though he had been warned repeatedly to step back from the vehicle.  According to LaBelle’s legal rep, King struck Holmes first.

Bracken also brought up the fact that King had been intoxicated during the incident and his West Point career had not ended due to his brain injury but because of his less-than-stellar academic performance at the prestigious institution.

The jurors reportedly took 10 hours to deliberate and sift through all of the testimonies and evidence.  They also viewed a surveillance video that filmed the entire incident at the airport before deciding on the LaBelle entourage win.
